The Western Australian government is back with the Student Assistance Program for this year to help parents or guardians. The program intends to support families and help them provide better education, food, and other resources for their upbringing.
The government announced the WASAP (Western Australian Student Assistance Payment) for 2025 as well, and set the claiming deadline for the families up to 04 July 2025. The families can claim it via ServiceWA or other methods and receive this benefit.
According to the program, the families will receive a cost-of-living payout up to $250 for the kid’s school expenses, stationery, camps, IT equipment, food, and other costs. Last time, around 400,000 students got the support through the WASAP, and this year the program is set to support families with a $89 million fund.

Who is eligible?
The WASAP program will be entitled to school-going children in WA who meet the following conditions:
- The children who are enrolled in WA public schools, registered for home schooling, or studying in non-governmental schools from Kindergarten to secondary school.
- Children who are under the care of family-based care and studying in WA.
- Students enrolled in Cocos Island District High School, School of Isolated and Distance Education, or Christmas Island District High School may also apply.
- The foreign students who are studying in the WAS registered school and paid the full-time fee can also receive the payment.
- Those pursuing the Western Australian Certificate of Education, or WACE.
Payout Amount
The Western Australian government offers financial support to students based on the standard or level of education they are receiving, such as:
- The students enrolled in primary school or kindergarten can receive the support under WASAP up to $150.
- While the secondary school students can receive support up to $250 under WASAP.
The households can claim the payment under WASAP for each of their children who meet the eligibility conditions of the program, so be mindful and claim it wisely.
Document Required
The Western Government has opened the application for the WASAP program to offer cost-of-living relief to families with school-going children. People who wish to apply should prepare the following documents to complete their application correctly:
- You would need the eight-digit WA student number (WASN) or SCSA that is unique, and you can easily find it on your child’s school reports, or earlier NAPLAN scorecard, or in the Secondary school-issued SmartRider cards. If your child is going to kindergarten or pre-primary school and you do not have WASN, you should reach out to the school to provide the unique 8-digit number to claim WASAP.
- You should have the school information of your kids, like enrollment time, school name, the education level of the kid, and DOB.
- In the WASAP application, you would need to enter the bank account where you wish your payout to be received, so make sure the account is valid and active.
How to claim?
The parents or guardians who are responsible for or caring for the child are eligible for the WASAP and can claim the benefit through ServiceWA in the following steps:
- You should go to the ServiceWA app, and if you don’t have it, download it.
- After that, either create a digital ID if you don’t already have one or log in to the app.
- Next, look for WASAP support, which is open to claim by eligible people, and complete the application carefully.
If you can’t apply via the ServiceWA app, you can use the following alternative methods to complete your WASAP claims:
- You can call the ServiceWA support team on 13 33 (133392) seven days a week or email at support@digital.wa.giv.au to get the needed assistance.
- Additionally, you can obtain the WASAP claim form from the official WASAP website and use it to submit a claim for up to five eligible children only. You can fill out the form along with 100 points of education department verification and send it to the following postal address:
