AISH Payment Date 2025: Payout Schedule, Amount, Eligibility Criterias 

The Alberta government offers health benefits and financial support to eligible Albertans with serious (permanent) health issues that limit their earning capability through AISH (Assured Income for the Severely Handicapped). The benefit is part of the financial assistance for disabled people, which is offered each month to the beneficiaries.

The authority processes the AISH payment on the four days before the first day to ensure every eligible person has the money for monthly expenses. The AISH recipients will receive the payment through direct deposit on time, however, physical checks can take time as the authority processes the checks six business days before the first day of the month.

Who is eligible?

The Albertans who wish to check the eligibility requirements for the AISH payments can check them below:

  • Your medical conditions limit your earning capability. 
  • The medical conditions you are suffering from must be permanent, and there is no therapy, rehabilitation, medical treatment, or training that can improve your ability to earn a living. 
  • The age limit for the benefit is 18 years old or older, but you should not be eligible to receive an Old Age Security Pension. 
  • You must be a resident of Alberta and a permanent Canadian resident or Canadian citizen.
  • You are not in a mental health facility like Alberta Hospital Edmonton or a correctional facility. 
  • You meet the financial criteria set by the government, such as your or your spouse’s income and assets.  

AISH Benefits

Under the AISH support, the Alberta government offers benefits depending on your situation. The AISH recipients can expect the following benefits and allowances based on their situation:

  • Living Allowance: The monthly payout offers support to pay for their living expenses, like food, utilities, or rent.  People who live with family or friends, live in a rented home, own a home/ condo/ apartment, live in a private group home, are homeless, or live in a Care home. 
  • Personal Benefits: The benefits provide financial support to help you manage the monthly expenses above living costs, such as a special diet for your medical condition or a medical device etc.  
  • Child Benefit: The benefits offer assistance to help Albertans help them raise their dependent children and manage their expenses. 
  • Health Benefits: The Benefit allows the authority to help the recipients cover their and their family medical or health requirements, such as prescription, emergency ambulance, dental, and others. 

Payout 

Albertans who meet the AISH eligibility criteria receive the benefit and allowance based on their living circumstances and health needs. The payout of each recipient may differ depending on the benefits they qualify for and their income or family income. 

According to the financial factsheet for 2025, Albertans who qualify for the AISH can expect the following maximum benefit under each benefit or allowance:

Changes to Report

The Albertans who receive the AISH payment are responsible for reporting any changes in their living situation and other circumstances that can affect their payment, such as:

  • Medical Condition improvement or if it’s getting worse.
  • Children turning 18 or a new addition in the family;
  • Change in your address or other contact details
  • Your income, or family income 
  • Your relationship status changed
  • Your job/ employment, like starting a new job or stopping working
  • Change in your health or personal benefits 
  • You move to another place or leave Alberta for more than a month, or are staying in a hospital or care home. 

If you receive the AISH payment more than you are entitled to or an underpayment, you must report the error to the authority on time. The next AISH payment will be processed in a few days for May, so be ready.
