The Blue Cross Blue Shield Settlement Antitrust Litigation appeal was resolved on 24 June 2024, confirming the settlement’s approval. The BCBS claimants who have filed the claim form before 05 November 2021 are now waiting for the settlement payout.
The BCBS settlement of $2.67 billion was one of the highest fund class actions across the United States. The claimants who are waiting for the compensation can expect it soon by mid-2025. The settlement administrator will update the payment distribution on the settlement website.
The BCBS settlement involves the individual, insured groups, or self-funded accounts that purchased or holder of Blue Cross or Blue Shield health insurance and other administrative services during the class period. According to the reports, the claimants can expect compensation up to $333 through the BCBS settlement.

Payment Status
The class members of the BCBS settlement who have filed the claim can check the status of their claim in the following way to know if they are receiving the payment or not:
- You should first go to the official website of the BCBS settlement mentioned above.
- Next, go to the “I would Like To” option on the homepage.
- Next, click the “Check the Status of My Claim” to move to the next page.
- Next, enter your Unique ID number or claim number in the box and click submit.
- Once you submit the button, your BCBS claim/payment status will appear on your screen.
Payout Amount
According to the Settlement agreement, the class member with a valid claim will receive the payout from the net settlement fund of $1.9 billion. The net settlement fund is the remaining fund of $2.67 billion that comes after the settlement administrator covers the other costs, such as attorney fees & costs, administration expenses, and service awards for the class representative.
The $1.9 billion settlement fund will be divided into two funds, where $1.78 billion will be used to compensate the individuals, insured groups, and their employees, and the remaining $120 million will be used for the Self-funded accounts and their employees.
The separate funds will be used to compensate the respective class members. The administrator has not determined the exact amount for each claimant as it depends on many factors; however, based on the estimates, the claimants can expect a payout of up to $333 under this settlement. The payout amount can be changed; however, the smaller payout will not increase the other payout.
If the settlement payout is $5 or less for the class members will not receive any payout from the settlement. Apart from the monetary benefits, the company promised to make the changes in their business to ensure they would not violate the antitrust laws.
Who will receive it?
According to the BCBS settlement, the company violated the antitrust laws with the agreement not to compete with each other, which limits the competition and results in lower healthcare costs. So, the settlement covers the individual, insured groups, and self-funded accounts (their employees). The class members wondering about their eligibility for the settlement can check it below:
- You were enrolled in the Blue Cross Blue Shield health insurance or administrative services plans between February 2008 and October 2020;
- You are an individual, insured group, self-funded account (or their employees) who have purchased or enrolled in BCBS health insurance or an administrative services plan during the settlement period.
- The settlement period for the individuals and insured groups is 07 February 2008 and 16 October 2020, whereas the class period for the self-funded accounts is from 01 September 2015 and 16 October 2020.
Payment Method
The BCBS settlement payout would be paid to the approved claimants based on the payment method they have selected in the claim form. According to the settlement agreement, the claimants would receive the payout in the following manner:
- Direct Deposit
- Physical Check
- Venmo
- PayPal
The class members who have filed the claim form, and if their payment method information is changed now, like PayPal email ID, mailing address, and others, should report the change to the settlement administrator to receive the payout on time and not miss the payment.
The BCBS settlement was long overdue, the claimants can check their claim status to ensure they will receive the payment from the settlement administrator.

Hello,
I just read this updated article today. I also checked the status of my claim, it appears I have 2 claims and both are still in review.
I have always been rather confused about the lawsuit and all the information that has updated lately.
How will I know if I qualify for the payout?
I also recieved the e- mail notification a few months, which was ridiculously confusing. Can anyone please Explain this to me.
PLEASE & THANK YOU
Jackie
I never received the email do you know what email address it came from so I can search in my email?
notice@bcbssettlement.com
I never received no notification concerning this lawsuit I use to work for the Chicago transit authority and at that time the company had BCBS back in 2008 , I’d this true I want to know about it email me at kennethharris574@gmail.com thanks.
I was also on BCBS that’s Blue Cross and Blue Shield for over a couple couple years and never heard anything about any law suits. But my email is Blueeyesme.1954@gmail.com. my address is 375 North st Radcliff ky 40160.
I recently saw something on Google about the settlement & that there was an extension if you had not filed. That was in 2021. I’m usually alert to these things but an old different email may have been used. I saw nothing on the official site about an extension until July 25, 2025 so assumed it was scam. I tried checking status but didn’t have a claim # or unique ID. I tried my policy # but not a valid entry. Would you let me know something since I would qualify. Thank you!
My husband has had Blue Cross Blue shield for over 15 years and is retired but is paying individually on his own Blue Cross Blue shield at 837 a month. We have never heard anything about this settlement. The email address is herderhorstd@gmail.com Thank You
Still waiting and provided the paperwork. Checked the website no one replied. Still need answers to when? Hope I still around to receive it
BCBS has records. They know who was insured by them . My wife and I both had BCBS for the qualifying time. I have never filed for this. They could have mailed out announcements for this, but they didn’t. Good luck getting your $5.67 or whatever.
I was never informed about this Lawsuit it would be unfair to some of us not to be included if we didn’t know about it. What can we do to be included.

I received two amounts and was only given the option to receive a digital card, and not the other options but haven’t received anything yet
At least you got paid. I’m still waiting
I have been waiting for the settlement since the beginning. My status has been in review the whole time. I received the email about the electronic debit card and my premiums on 02/07/2025 and don’t have a dispute so I opted for the debit card that day. The website has not been updated for a while and there’s many conflicts in the media about the payout date. What are we waiting for?
My name is diana and when checking online our still says “in review” it has been like this ever since I received card telling me to submit a claim x 4 of us in our household. Please help
Trying to get with the Blue Cross law suit
My claim has been in “Review” for a while. What does in “Review” mean and how long will it be in “Review”? Do we get interest on the money while it is in “Review”?
Seriously I’ll be dead before I get paid🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬
Where are you getting ‘up to 333’ payment from? The BCBS website gives us a formula and there is no way of estimating this because the amount is subject to the amount in premiums paid and the total premium paid. Each person will receive a different portion and it will be different for each person. This article is not accurate and very misleading.
BCBS is dragging thier backside !! They have used every trick in the book to delay distribution of funds. They finally send a stupid and confusing email to claimants asking if they want an electronic debit card and if they want to be part of 1st round payoffs..they give you a chart showing what you paid for premiums with NO explanation. Personally they showed me what I paid in 2018, 2019 when I was out injured on workers comp. Since I have been covered by BCBS since the 1980’s and before I questioned the chart .Now they say no payouts until all these concerns have been addressed !!..This whole suit started out with dated deadlines to dispute anything..This suit was settled over a year ago then the 2 or 3 entities appealed to the Supreme Court and we’re denied..SUIT SETTELED !! pay us but NO several months later we get ridiculous emails how we want our payments..BCBS has all the records showing how much we paid them..they lost …PAY US !!!..now they using that ridiculous email to delay payouts..what a joke !!!
I think I’m one of the first to get paid. I received an email today with a payout of $289.00 in the form of a virtual Mastercard.
I emailed 3 times a day trying to find out when we would get paid and no one every responded. But hey I got almost $300 finally!!!
Bkupniewski@gmail.com
What was the amount you had paid out originally?
What email address did it come from?
Please and thank you
Can I ask how much you paid in on the premium side?
how much total had you paid in premiums? I am just curious to see what the percentage was.
No information mailed to BCBS customers informing them of a potential lawsuit! Is this another scam that is going around?
I was and still is a blue cross shield customer, I never heard anything about BCBS law suit. Neither was i informed about it. I feel, regardless of not submitting a claim. Everyone that has been affected should receive some type of compensation.
Been waiting for my settlement. I have 2 amounts and still says under review. Everyone shouldn’t have to wait this long to receive their claims.
