The Canada Revenue Agency processes the CCB payment every month to the eligible households with dependent children based on the yearly adjustment or the household income. Generally, the agency disburses the CCB payout by the 20th of each month.

The CCB May 2025 payment is now anticipated by the recipients, and as per the schedule, it will be disbursed on May 20, 2025. The household that received the CCB payout will also be registered for the GST/HST credit.

Payment Amount

The CRA evaluates the Canada Child Benefit (CCB) payments each July by considering the household income from the prior year, along with the inflation index. The current payout will be based on net income from 2023, as the FY is from July 2024 to June 2025, so the recipients will receive the payout based on last year’s adjustment.

A CCB payout is determined by the CRA based on the age of the children, the number of children, and the adjusted family net income shown on the tax return. The payment may vary depending on these factors; however, the recipients can receive maximum payment if the AFNI is below $36,502, such as:

Children age Monthly Payout
Under 6 $648.91
6 to 17 years $547.50

Income effect on payout

As mentioned earlier, the household with a net income under $36,502  can expect the maximum payment, however, the recipients should know how their income affects the payment. The recipients can verify how their income affects their payout and calculate their payout:

  • Your payment may be diminished by 7% of the income over the limit with one kid, 13.5% if you have two, 19% if you have three, and 23% if you have four or more children if your household net income exceeds the income limit and is between $36,502 and $79,087.
  • If your family’s net income exceeds the value of $79,087, your CCB payout will be reduced based on the number of children, such as:
  • For one Child, $2981+3.2% of the increased income  will be reduced
  • For two children, your payout will be reduced by $5,749 + 5.7% of the increased income over the limit.
  • For families with three children, the Canada Child Benefit (CCB) payout decreases by $7,728 plus 8% of any income that exceeds the specified limit.
  • In the case of families with four or more children, the reduction amounts to $9,795 alongside 9.5% of the income above the threshold.
