Cash App Settlement Payout Per Person 2025: How much are you going to get?

The Cash App Security Settlement got the final approval from the Northern District Court of California on 13 January 2025. The class members who filed the claim form before the deadline, 18 November 2024, now await the compensation from the $15 million settlement fund. 

The settlement administrator has not revealed the payout date; however, with the approval, the claimants can expect the compensation in the third or last quarter of 2025. The administrator will verify the claims, finalize the payout for them, etc., before the payment distribution, which can take time and result in the payout coming earlier or later. 

With Cash App security settlement, the Cash App/ Cash App investing and other affiliated companies’ customers (current or former) would get compensation for the inconvenience they face due to the data breach that occurred in 2022 and 2023, leading to fraudulent transactions and unauthorized data access.

Payout Per Person

According to the Cash App Security settlement, the administrator will first use the settlement fund of $15 million to cover the Settlement administration cost, attorney fees & costs, and service awards for the class representative. After these costs are deducted, the remaining funds will be used to compensate the claimants.

The payout for each claimant can be different depending on the claimant’s award they filed for or received approval for. According to the settlement agreement, the compensation will be paid through the following claimant awards:

• Out-of-pocket losses: Under this award, the claimants with a valid claim will receive compensation up to $2500 as reimbursement for the out-of-pocket losses they incurred to resolve the issues caused by the data breach and unauthorized accesses. 
• Lost time: The class members with a valid claim can receive compensation for the time they lost due to the deadline with the Cash App data breach during the class period. The lost time reimbursement is up to $25 per hour for up to 3 hours. 
• Transaction Loss: The settlement members will receive compensation for the transaction loss they faced due to the Cash App data breach that occurred during the class period. The class members who presented the proper documentation related to the unauthorized transaction loss will receive the full amount. 

The class members can expect the payout based on the claimant award they have claimed and have been approved. If the net settlement fund is not enough for the approved claim, then the payout may get reduced and distributed accordingly to ensure every claimant receives the compensation.  

Who is eligible?

According to the Cash App Security settlement, the Cash App customer who meets the following conditions will be eligible to receive the payout:

• The current or former customer of Cash App/ Cash App Investing, any of its parents, subsidiaries, parent companies, whose personal information, or Cash App/ Cash App investing accounts, were accessed without your consent, or you have faces unauthorized or fraudulent withdrawals or any other deficiency in the Cash App account ot any financial account linked to Cash App account during the class period. 
• The class period for the Cash App Security is between 23 August 2018 and 20 August 2024. 
• The class members who have filed the exclusion form before the deadline, 18 November 2024, will be excluded from the settlement payout. 

How to check the status?

The Cash App Security settlement class members who have filed a claim for the claimant award can find the status of the settlement in the following way:

• You can call the settlement administrator at +1 866 615 9740 and ask about your settlement claim status with your claimant ID and confirmation code. 
• You can mail your query to the settlement administrator at info@cashappsecuritysettlement.com and ask about your payout. 
• You can mail your question regarding your claimant status to the settlement administrator’s postal address at Cash App Security Settlement Administrator, 1650 Arch Street, Suite 2210, Philadelphia, PA 19103.  

If any class member has received the notice email about any mistake in their claimed form, they can fix their claim on the settlement website and present the right information to the administrator to receive the compensation on time. 

Payment method 

The class members who have filed the claim form for the Cash App Security settlement will receive the payout through the payment method they have selected. The settlement administrator allows the payment to be disbursed through the following method:

• Venmo
• Zelle
• Virtual Prepaid Card
• Physical Check 

If the class members have changed any of their payment method information, they must report it to the settlement administrator, so as not to miss their compensation whenever the distribution is begun.
