The Church and Dwight Settlement was finalized and got the court approval two years ago, the claimants have been waiting for the settlement administrator to process the payout or product voucher. The $2.5 million settlement fund was set for the cash payment in the C&D settlement.
The settlement administrator has closed the claim form submission on 15 November 2023. According to reports, the administrator can process the settlement payout by the end of 2025 for the valid claimants.
The Church and Dwight Settlement was filed, saying the BatisteTM dry shampoo products that C&D marketed were contaminated with benzene at unsafe levels. The defendant denies the allegations but agreed to settle the case with a $2.5 million settlement to resolve the lawsuit.

Payout Amount
The Church & Dwight settlement offers a $2.5 million settlement fund, which will be used to provide the cash payment to the valid claimants who bought the Batiste and Bare products. However, before processing the cash payment to the class members, the settlement administrator will use the funds to cover the following expenses:
- Attorney Fees & Costs
- Administration costs
- Service awards
The cash payment for each person is still not determined, as it depends on many factors, such as the product they bought, the number of claims, etc. The class members who have submitted purchase proof will get the full amount of the purchase; however, they will get $2 for each product, up to a maximum of five, if they can’t provide any evidence..
As per the settlement, the class members had a choice to claim a cash payment or a payment voucher based on the product they purchased. The settlement administrator will use the $6 million fund to offer a product voucher to people who bought the Batiste products, and for each product they will receive $2 for most of five items.
Who can receive it?
The Church & Dwight settlement payout will be offered to the following people who meet the following conditions:
- Any individual or organization who bought the BatisteTM or BareTM products before 30 May 2023 for family, personal, or household use.
- The BatisteTM product includes all dry shampoos marketed by C&D, whereas the BareTM product includes C&D’s marketed Clean & Light dry shampoo.
Exclusions
- People who bought this product for resale will not be eligible for the settlement.
- The employee, officers, directors, subsidiaries, entities, agents, and affiliated companies of the defendant are ineligible for the settlement benefit.
- The government organization, court, or the judicial staff, or their immediate family members, will be ineligible for the settlement benefit.
- The C&D settlement class members who chose to exclude or object to the settlement by filing a form before the deadline, 16 September 2023, will be ineligible for the settlement benefits.
How to check the status?
The Church & Dwight settlement class members who had filed the claim can check the status of the settlement directly from the settlement administrator, in the following steps:
- Visit the C&D settlement website, go to the menu tab, and click the contact option.
- Next, you will have the settlement administrator contact information, or you can click the “Contact Settlement Administrator” tab.
- Next, select the reason “Basic Information” in the category and the Topic section, and click the option “ When will I get my payment or voucher?”
- Next, the information will appear on the screen, and if you are not satisfied with the answer, you can select the No option below.
- Afterwards, you will have to enter your name, email address, phone number, reason, and the message about the payment status to the administrator.
- The C&D settlement administrator will send the response to your message through the entered communication information.
How to update claim information?
The C&D settlement was filed two years ago, and many of you may have changed your claim information, which may affect your payment, like a change in email address or mailing address. So, if any of the claimants whose information has changed from the time of the filed claim, they should immediately inform the administrator to get the payout whenever the distribution commences.
