The Cornerstone data settlement has got preliminary approval and reached the claim form submission stage. The defendant, Cornerstone National Insurance, will pay $525,000 to resolve the class action lawsuit for unauthorized data breach.
The settlement administrator has begun accepting the claim form; class members can file the claim form before the deadline, 10th July 2025, whereas the class members who do not wish to get involved in this settlement can also file the exclusion or objection form before the same deadline.
The Cornerstone class action lawsuit alleges that the defendant is responsible for the unauthorized access to the consumer data. The lawsuit claims Cornerstone has violated the Driver’s privacy regulations, California unfair competition law, and other acts, leading to inconvenience for the people living in the US.

Who is eligible to claim?
The US people can know if they can be part of the Cornerstone settlement or not through the following eligibility criteria:
- People living in the US who received the notice from Cornerstone National Insurance on around 04 August 2022, said that their personal information may be accessed or compromised through unauthorized data sharing without their consent.
- People who did not receive the notice but believe their PI was compromised can send an email to info@CornerstoneDatasettlement.com for identity verification for the class member to receive the compensation.
Exclusion:
- The officer, director, employees, or parent, subsidiary company of Cornerstone, or any agent, is ineligible to participate in this settlement.
- The judicial staff or judge related to the Cornerstone settlement or their immediate family members can’t participate in the settlement.
Settlement Payout
The Cornerstone data settlement will be paid from the $525,000 fund, where the administrator will use 33.33% of the fund for the attorney’s fees & costs, $145,675 for administration costs, and not more than $1500 for the litigation expenses before they compensate the class members.
The class members who filed a valid claim for the Cornerstone data settlement will receive the cash benefit through equal distribution based on the number of claims filed, approved claims, and many other factors. According to the administrator’s estimate, the class members will receive a payout of around $25 and $78.
The administrator has made the estimation of payout per person based on 1 to 3% of class members filing the claim, so the amount may differ by the end of the settlement. Class members should be worry-free that any money will remain untouched in digital payments or checks will be paid to Western Missouri Legal Aid.
How to claim?
The Cornerstone customers who meet the settlement class member criteria can file the claim form online in the following steps to get the benefits:
- First, visit the Cornerstone data settlement website at https://www.cornerstonedatasettlement.com/
- Next, click the “Submit a Claim” option on the right-hand side of the website.
- Afterwards, read the instructions carefully and input your PIN and Unique ID mentioned in the settlement notice to log into the claim processing portal.
- Next, your Cornerstone data settlement claim form will appear on your screen; fill out the form carefully and submit it.
The class members who wish to send the claim form offline can download the claim form from the Cornerstone data settlement website after filling it out with valid details, and mail it to the following administrator’s postal address:

When to expect?
The class member who will file the claim form will receive the cash payment after the federal court grants the final approval to the settlement agreement, as the administrator will process the distribution of funds only after the court gives the green signal.
The final court hearing for the approval will happen on 25 September 2025 at the Western District court of Missouri. If the court approves and no one appeals against the settlement, the Cornerstone settlement class member with a valid claim can expect the payout by the end of 2025 or at the start of 2026, as the administrator can take three to four months or more to process the payments.
