However, the users who have selected the paper check method can expect the payout in a few weeks. After a year of long battle, the users are finally receiving the compensation for the long-running class action settlement since it got the final approval in October 2022.

The payout was delayed for this long due to the appeal against the settlement. The Supreme Court denied the objector’s petition on 27 January 2025, and the settlement was effective from 24 February 2025. According to users’ posts, the claimants have received the payout between $30 and $40 from this settlement.

What’s the lawsuit about?

The Facebook users filed the lawsuit against the platform in the Northern California district court, claiming that they have violated the privacy of the users by tracking their browsing history even when they have logged out of their accounts and using other sites.

The plaintiffs allege that the defendant has collected and obtained data from the users who visited the non-Facebook websites during the class period. The defendant denies all the allegations but decided to resolve the lawsuit with the settlement of $90 million to compensate the users.

Payout Amount

The Facebook Internet tracking settlement fund of $90 million was first used for the administrative costs, service award, attorney’s fees & costs, and any other settlement expenses. The class members who filed the claim form on or before the deadline, 22 Sep 2022, will receive the payout from the remaining fund.

The class members whose claims were approved by the administrator will receive the payout. According to the settlement agreement, the users will receive an equal share of the remaining funds. As the payment distribution has begun, many users have taken the social media to post about the payment they have received under the Facebook internet tracking settlement.

According to the user’s post, the settlement administrator has processed a payout amount of $40.67 under the settlement.

Payment Method

The Facebook Internet Tracking settlement administrator has offered the payment through various payment methods. The payout is rolled out based on the payment method they have selected in the claim form. The payment methods available for the Facebook settlement are:

The claimants who have selected the digital payment method got their payment in these two days. The claimants with physical checks have to wait for a few weeks for the payment to be delivered to their mailing address entered in the claim form or updated later on if it is changed.

What to do if you do not receive the payout?

The Facebook Internet tracking settlement payout distribution has begun for the approved claims. If the users who have claimed the settlement and see themselves as eligible for the payment did not receive the payment, they should contact the Settlement administrator.

The settlement class members expecting the payment can contact the administrator by giving the call at  1-844-665-0905 or sending an email to info@FBInternetTrackingSettlement.com, or mailing to the administrator’s postal address where you have sent the claim form earlier.
