The class action settlement against MGM Resorts International got preliminary approval from the Nevada District Court, and the settlement administrator has been sending the notice to the class members since February 2025. The lawsuit was filed against the defendant due to the two data breaches that happened in July 2019 and September 2023 or around.
The defendant has proposed to pay a $45 million settlement fund to resolve the class action lawsuit. The administrator has opened the claim form submission for the MGM Data Breach settlement till 03 June 2025, whereas the class members who wish to exclude themselves or object to the settlement can fill out the form before 19 May 2025.
The settlement administrator will pay a cash payment to the class members based on the data exposed to the third party and other factors. According to the plaintiff’s claims, the private information, social security number, and other information were compromised in the data breach.

Who can receive it?
People who meet the MGM data settlement class members’ conditions can file the claim form for the settlement:
- All the people in the United States whose private information was leaked or compromised in any of the two data incidents that happened around July 2019 and September 2023 will be eligible to file the claim.
Exclusion:
- People or immediate family members of the judge or judicial staff associated with the MGM Data settlement are excluded.
Settlement Amount
The MGM data settlement provides compensation to the people who were affected by the two data breaches from the $45 million settlement fund in the form of the following awards:
- Cash Payment on documented loss: If the class member has faced a financial loss due to the data security, such as credit monitoring services, etc, and can provide proper documentation can receive the cash payout up to $15,000.
- Cash Payment in three tiers: Now, the class members can also receive the tier cash payments if their certain information is exposed in the data breaches, such as:
- Tier I: When your Social Security number or military identification number is disclosed in the MGM data breach, you can expect a payout of $75.
- Tier II: When your driver’s license number or passport number is disclosed, you can expect a cash payout of $50 from the settlement.
- Tier III: When your DOB, name, or address was disclosed due to the MGM data breaches, you can expect the payout of $20.
- Financial Account Monitoring: With the cash benefit, the class members are also entitled to receive three-bureau identity theft protection for a year with credit monitoring and an identity/ fraud insurance up to $1,000,000.

The MGM data settlement class members will require the Unique ID and PIN they received in the settlement notice to file their claim, so if you wish to send the claim, you can claim it online in the following steps:

- Next, click the “Start Your Claim” option to go to the Submit claim page.
- Next, read the instructions and input your Unique ID or PIN to log into the portal.
- Next, you can access the claim form for the MGM data settlement and enter the valid details.
- Once you have entered all the details, upload all the documents to support your financial loss claims, and submit the claim form.

When to expect?
The MGM data settlement class members who filed the claim form before the deadline should wait for the court’s final approval because only after the approval, the settlement administrator will distribute the payouts. The final approval hearing for the MGM data settlement is scheduled on 18 June 2025.
If the federal court grants the final approval to the MGM settlement proposal, the settlement administrator will start the settlement distribution, and the valid claimants can expect the payout to be out within 180 days or more. However, if someone appeals against the MGM data settlement, the court will have to stop the process until the appeal is resolved.
