Good news for the people living in Oregon, as the state has decided to resume the Oregon Clean Vehicle Rebate program from May 22, 2025. The DEQ said that it is reopening the program, as this year the department got the funds through the Climate Equity and Resilience Through Action award.
DEQ will provide two rebates under this program, such as the Standard Rebate and Charge Ahead Rebate, and the residents can apply for only one rebate. Residents who lease or buy a qualified vehicle by May 22, 2025, or before, will be eligible for the reimbursement.
On behalf of the DEQ, the Center for Sustainable Energy will manage the payout for eligible Oregon residents and other applicants. The rebate application must be filled out by Oregon residents within six months of buying or leasing a qualifying car.

Rebate Eligibility
The DEA clean vehicle rebate program encourages people to buy zero-emission vehicles through two rebates, such as:
- Standard Rebate:
- When an Oregon resident buys or leases a new battery electric or plug-in hybrid EV or a new zero-emission electric motorcycle, the standard rebate will be available.
- The Oregon residents, businesses, government agencies, and non-profits in Oregon are eligible for the standard rebate.
- Charge Ahead Rebate:
- When you buy or lease an electric or plug-in hybrid EV, zero-emission E-motorcycle, you may be entitled to a charge ahead rebate when you meet the income requirement, which is 400% of the federal poverty line.
- This rebate is available to low-to-moderate income households or non-profit organizations, or low-earning service providers.
Vehicle Requirement
The Oregon residents or businesses, or non-profit organizations must meet the following vehicle requirement as well to get the rebate:
- The vehicle you bought or leased has a retail cost of less than $50,000 and should be registered with the state.
- The e-vehicles should be brought from a dealer who holds the licences or from the original manufacturer; however, if it is bought from the original equipment manufacturer, the manufacturer should not have any franchised, licensed, or automobile dealers in the state.
- The DEQ does not allow person-to-person sales for the rebate. People who wish to receive the rebate can check the vehicle equipment based on the model for the standard or charge ahead rebate on the official website of the program.
Rebate Amount
Oregon DEQ allows people to receive only one rebate under the clean vehicle rebate program, and the rebate amount for both rebates depends on various factors, such as:
- Standard Rebate:
- With the eligible vehicle having a battery capacity of 10 kWh or above, purchase or lease, you may get a rebate of up to $2,500.
- For those opting for a plug-in hybrid or battery EV with a battery capacity under 10 kWh, the potential rebate is up to $1,500.
- Additionally, if you buy or lease a new zero-emission electric motorcycle, you might be eligible for a rebate of up to $750.
- Charged Ahead Rebate:
- You will receive a rebate up to $5,000 when you purchase or lease a new or used eligible vehicle.
- When you purchase a new, qualified EV, you could be eligible for a $7500 Charge Ahead payout.

Oregon residents can apply for the Clean Rebate program when they purchase or lease an eligible vehicle from a participating dealership at a point of sale. Though Oregon residents who wish to get the Charge Ahead rebate should first apply for the Pre-qualified certificate.
