Washington State has rolled out the e-bike instant rebate on Wednesday, 09 April 2025 at 07 AM. According to the Washington State Department of Transportation, more than $4 million in funds is released for E-bike instant rebates.
The state has opened the WE-bike application for two weeks, the application will close by noon on 23 April 2025. The eligible Washington residents can apply now, the rebates will be randomly awarded, so anyone can get the chance to be selected for the rebate.
Under this rebate program, the applicants can also receive the rebate for the e-bikes and their accessories along with their maintenance. The state has launched this e-bike instant rebate to encourage people to embrace the e-bike and its usage for their daily commute.

Who is eligible?
According to the Washington State Transportation Department, the applicants must meet the following eligibility criteria:
- You must be living in Washington State.
- You must have at least attained the age of 16 years to get the rebate.
- Your pre-tax household income should be at or below 80% of the county’s Area Median Income for high rebate. You can check the AMI for the county, depending on the family size, in the PDF at https://wsdot.wa.gov/sites/default/files/2025-04/EBike-AMI-Guide.pdf
- The Washington household is eligible for only one e-bike rebate.
- You can receive the rebate if you have any three classes of e-bike: Classes 1, 2, and 3. The Washington department will provide the list of eligible e-bikes that meet the safety and model criteria for the rebate on the APTIM’s website soon.
Important Note: The e-mountain bikes are excluded from this rebate
Rebate Amount
As mentioned before, the authority will roll out around $4 million for the e-bike instance rebate, where qualified applicants can receive either $1200 or $300 per person. The $1200 rebate will be given to applicants who fulfill the income requirements, while the $300 rebate will be given to all other applicants.
The rebate is offered on the purchase of eligible e-bikes, adaptive bikes, or e-cargo bikes under the WE-bike rebate. The instant rebates will be applicable to the total purchase cost of the e-bike. The authority can also offer 10,000 vouchers, where 60% of the vouchers will go towards the low-income earners.
According to the Washington Department, the state has 3 million households, and each household may be eligible for only one e-bike rebate.
Rebate Use
The applicants who got the rebate through the random system can use the rebate for only one transaction, where they can purchase multiple items, like e-bike accessories, a helmet, bike locks, bike lights, and a maintenance agreement.
Hence, use the rebate carefully during the purchase of the e-bike and its accessories. The authority will soon release the list of eligible bike shops to use the rebate. The applicants can only use the rebate at the approved shops for the eligible e-bike models. According to reports, there are around 100 eligible e-bike shops in Washington State.
The applicants who get selected for the rebate must use the rebate within 45 days of the issuance, or by the deadline of 20 June 2025, whichever comes first. Hence, use the rebate after thorough research on the e-bike model and other specifications and buy it within the timeline.
How to claim?
The application window for the WE-bike instant rebates is activated till 23 April 2025 (noon). The Washington household that wishes to avail this rebate should apply now through the following steps:
- You must go to the apply link of WE-bike mentioned above, operated by APTIM.
- Next, click the Apply Here button on the dedicated website.
- Next, enter your personal information, eligibility information, type of e-bike, or other information.
- Next, submit the application form for the WE-bike rebate on the web portal with valid details.
The program website vendor APTIM will send you the rebate through email if you are selected for the rebate random process, which you can redeem later during a single transaction for the e-bike or its accessories/ maintenance at the approved shop. The dedicated website for the WE-bike application is available in English and Spanish to make the navigation easy for the residents.
The Washington resident has the option to join the research program on e-bike usage when they apply for the rebates, which will be fruitful to develop the rebate program.
